Elders to Rock at Kouga Heritage Festival

Age is nothing but a number. Bearing testimony to this statement is the cultural dance group “Mothers of Heritage” whose performance will be one of the highlights of this year’s Kouga Heritage Festival.
The group of five ladies will be dancing to the rhythm and beat of traditional music from the region.
True to their name “Mothers of Heritage” they wear traditional African garments such as the Gele, which is a traditional headband, beaded necklaces and other handmade jewellery. Hard work and perseverance is what keeps us growing says Glady Daysile one of the ladies from the group.

The group practices twice a week from nine in the morning until three in the afternoon. We practice twice a week and this helps keep our performances fresh says Daysile.

The Kouga Cultural Centre in Humansdorp can be found on the corner of Voortrekker Road and Heugh Road.
