HER WORDS seeks to amplify the voice of women by firstly showcasing female artists in the Eastern Cape and possibly the rest of South Africa, who work in any art area. The artists will be showcased once a month on the last Thursday of every month to a Ladies-only performance. The 45 minute performance driven by a particular theme will be followed by 20 minutes of the ladies in attendance engaging in a networking session over light snacks. Thereafter another 20 minutes will be dedicated to a ‘talk’ session led by the host where the women will bounce off their thoughts on the theme as presented by the performing artist. In this manner, the 90 minutes of activity will have managed to kill 3 birds with one stone by elevating the status of art in the community, unifying women, and discussing topics that women may find to be difficult to tackle alone in their private spaces. The first of these holistic empowering sessions will be hosted on Thursday, 31 May 2012, featuring the lady who gave birth to this concept, PoeticSoul, who has touched many with her inspiring words that can only come through from the passage of her heart.
