Experience the fusion of urban, Xhosa and township culture, blended with the rich history and devastating past that lingers in the townships of Nelson Mandela Bay. Meet the ‘real’ people of the area and experience their stories. Learn about the prominent political and cultural leaders who originated from the townships and the struggles endured to mould South Africa into the country it is today. The half-day tour will take you past the Red Location Museum, the Emlotheni Memorial Park, Njoli Square and the Mendi Memorial to mention but a few fascinating stops. You can purchase an authentic South African souvenir at one of the various local craft shops and enjoy a celebration in one of the township’s shebeens, a place where people meet for good food, drinks and, of course, great company.

Pass holders receive a free township tour. Prior booking essential and subject to availability.

How to book: Prior booking required. Contact NMBT to book your tour and request NMB Pass special. Tours will be booked with participating tour operators and are subject to availability. Minimum of two people per tour. If single person request to join a tour.
