NOUGAT PAIRING POPS WITH JC LE ROUX’S MCCS AT THE WEEKEND POST’S WINE THEATRE

Tutored tasting among line-up of TOPS at SPAR Wine Show’s PE event this August

PE wine lovers are gearing up for their seventh consecutive TOPS at SPAR Wine Show, an event that, year after year, draws in fans of fine wine, fun and festivity. Taking place at the Boardwalk between the 4^th and 6^th August, the show presents a line-up of special guests at The Weekend Post’s Wine Theatre who will each host a half hour tutored tasting. Among them is Wesley Stoffels from JC Le Roux. He will share how to pair different flavours of nougat with JC Le Roux’s range of award-winning MCCs and make their fine fizzes pop!

Arguably among JC Le Roux’s most popular tastings presented at its brand home in Stellenbosch in Cape Town, the Nougat & MCC pairing was produced in partnership with Susaar Oppermann from Roses Handmade, a specialist nougat maker. Together with Cellarmaster Elunda Basson, she and the JC Le Roux team took months to marry the delicate flavours of the MCCs with the nougat.

Five combinations were exclusively created, each with their own unique epicurean angle:

-The Pinot Noir 2009 is paired with an orange peel nougat with dark chocolate

-The Pinot Noir Rosé 2009 is paired with a cranberry nougat covered in white chocolate

-The Brut is paired with a honey and almond nougat

-The Demi-Sec La Vallée is paired with a lemon and thyme nougat

-The La Vallée Rosé is proudly paired with the South African Rooibos-infused nougat

Says Cellarmaster Elunda Basson, “Each nougat was designed to match and complement the individual MCCs’ flavours. The idea was that the nougat would not change the taste of the MCC and that the MCC should not change the taste of the nougat. The two products complement each other in a truly harmonious way – creating the perfect balance.”
