PE SET TO SHINE: CAPITEC BANK JOINS HANDS WITH THE COLOR RUN

The Color Run announces boldest, brightest, and most generous event to date with news that Capitec Bank has pledged support for the world’s largest 5km event series.

5 May 2015 – With just two weeks to go before The Color Run kicks off its 2015 event series in The Friendly City, organisers have promised to wow participants by making “the happiest 5K on the planet” even happier.

“The Color Run is going to be bigger and better than ever, and that’s also thanks in part to the fact that South Africa’s favourite bank, Capitec Bank, has come on board as the headline sponsor,” says Leon Swanepoel, national franchise owner for The Color Run South Africa.

“PE has for the past two years shown massive support for The Color Run, and this year they will be the first to experience the BIGGER BETTER SHINIER format”.

“But, it is about so much more than just one day, which is why we are thrilled to have a sponsor such as Capitec Bank, which shares The Color Run’s passion for social upliftment,” says Swanepoel.

“Capitec Bank is really excited to be on board with The Color Run, because we share the same values. Like The Color Run, we also believe in health, happiness, individuality, giving back, living life in technicolour and having fun, while caring about the community. We don’t just want to help bring The Color Run to PE again, we also want to do something meaningful for the local community,” says Charl Nel, head of communications at Capitec Bank.

“That’s why we’re so happy to be able to provide some much-needed support to the St James Nursery School in Queenstown, a cause that was nominated by the local community. We want to give back in the context of education as we believe education is crucial to life improvement in the communities we serve. Queenstown is also close to our hearts as we have been involved in financial education for high school children in this community. For every ticket entry R10 will be contributed to St James Nursery School, thereby giving participants an opportunity to run for good.”

Nel said Capitec Bank chose to sponsor The Color Run because, unlike many big sponsored events, it has a regional community-based approach and benefits education. Communities are both involved in this event series and benefit from it through local education initiatives.

Participating in the year’s most anticipated event will be done in the true spirit of Ubuntu. And Color Runners can expect nothing like ever before, with this year’s run including in-race obstacles such as inflatables, a “hug zone”, and, for the first time ever, timed glitter blasts – ensuring the happiest, healthiest, and most generous event Port Elizabeth has seen.

Additionally, through Capitec Bank’s generous sponsorship, tickets for the PE event will remain at the super-low price of R150 until Monday 11 May. Thereafter, tickets will cost R200 each.  Each ticket is bundled with a R200.00 gift voucher from TakeALot.com and another R200.00 voucher from Superbalist (Ts&Cs apply).
