WILDRUNNER LAUNCHES THE INAUGURAL 2016 PE SPUR WINTER TRAIL SERIES

Spur Trail Series®

Leading trail running events specialist, Wildrunner is excited to announce the launch of the first ever Port Elizabeth Winter Trail Series®, which kicks off with a bang on Sunday, 24 July 2016 in the beautiful Sacramento Nature Reserve. Port Elizabeth Winter Trail Series® Runners will be able to enjoy the thrill of running through beautiful coastal landscapes and dune vegetation.

The Spur Trail Series® is already an annual highlight amongst trail runners in the Western Cape, Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal, and is one of the most popular trail running events and the only national trail running series in the country.

“The Spur Trail Series® is a great place both for novices to be introduced to the sport of trail running and for experienced racers to do speed training as they take on some of the most talented trail runners in South Africa,” comments Trail Series® founder and Wildrunner MD, Owen Middleton.

“We balance it out by offering courses of different distances and levels of technicality in the Spur Trail Series®, and then we go on to offer more extreme and multi-day options in our Mountain Challenge and Wildrun® events .” said Middleton.

“PE is a stunning area for trail running, and we are really pleased to be promoting the area’s natural attractions through the Spur Trail Series®.”

The PE Trail Series® consists of four long (Championship) and four short courses (Challenge) and runners only receive a medal if they complete the entire Series. To complete the Series, runners have to run at least three long courses or three short courses.

Alternatively, if runners only want to run one or two of the races and can’t complete the entire Series they’re welcome to enter on a race-by-race basis. The Spur Trail Series® is a fantastic place to involve the whole family - kids as young as six years old are allowed to enter and compete.
