TOUR HIGHLIGHTS:
• A visit to the South End Museum, providing a glimpse into the life and times of the vibrant multicultural
South End community before forced removal was brought about by the Group Areas act under the
apartheid regime.
• A visit to a homestead in the township to explore customs and traditions.
• A visit to a local market where traditional medicines are sold.
• A visit to a crafts centre where you can purchase gifts produced locally (Time permitting you will get an
opportunity to learn how to create a beaded necklace or wrist band.)
• A light traditional meal with a Xhosa family.
• Drinks at a local tavern.
 

DETAILS:
Duration
The tour lasts approximately 4 hours starting at 9:00. It starts with a brief overview of the history of the city. Your experienced tour guide will also provide you with an overview of the excursion and will explain the various protocols that will guide the community interactions throughout the day.

Rates
R500 per person (minimum of 2 people)
R550 per person (single)
The price includes a qualified guide, refreshments, and entrance fees. Entertainment can be arranged for
groups of 10 or more.
The price does not include transfers from outside Port Elizabeth and or accommodation. Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and a hat in summer. Evening tours can be arrange.
