Dancing Down Broadway

What’s a musical without the stunning dance routines that light up the stage and bring the songs we love to life?  After a great start to the year with another successful Valentine’s Cabaret, The PE Gilbert & Sullivan Society is thrilled to present their first major production for 2019, a Broadway Revue celebrating Broadway’s iconic dance musicals, dance numbers, dancers and choreographers that keep us “Dancing Down Broadway”.  The revue style format has proven to be a wonderful medium to showcase the Bay’s incredible talent and this year will be no exception.   

Leading the production is a much loved member of the G&S family, award-winning choreographer Bennie Gerber who makes his debut as Director/Choreographer and has chosen many of his favourite song and dance numbers to bring audiences a dazzling production.  He is joined by co-director Candida Merifield who has staged selected numbers building on her wonderful debut with Only You.  Vocal Direction is by Amanda du Plessis, also joining G&S for the first time. The show features songs and dance from musicals such as A Chorus Line, Gypsy, 42^nd Street, Chicago, The Producers, Cabaret and many more. 

Dancing Down Broadway has a 23 strong cast that features many seasoned G&S performers as well as some terrific new talent.  Bennie and Candida will be joined on stage by Kasvia von Memerty, Khuselo Gqiba, Gemma Barnard, Lesego Mkhwanazi, Rose Cowpar and successful professional performers Maryanne van Eyssen and Kehly Windvogel, returning to their roots after many years working nationally and internationally.

The show runs from the 5^th to the 15^th June 2019 at the Savoy Theatre in Adcockvale. Tickets are R100 for performances at 7.30 nightly from Tuesday to Saturday and for the matinee at 13:00 on Saturday 15^th June.  A special family matinee on Sunday 9^th has all tickets at just R60.  Bookings are at Computicket and there is a special discount for bookings of 8 or more, with tickets just R90. Patrons can choose from row or table seating to experience this spectacular show.
