About the SPAR Women’s Challenge Gqeberha

The Gqeberha leg of the SPAR Women’s Challenge is a highlight on the Bay’s running calendar — combining fitness, fun, and fierce energy along one of South Africa’s most scenic coastal routes. Whether you’re racing for a PB or power-walking in a tutu, this event is all about celebrating women, wellness, and community.

Expect good vibes, fresh sea air, and thousands of women stepping up to thrive together. With 5km and 10km routes and amazing support along the way, it’s the perfect mix of challenge and cheer!

Race Information:
  1. The race starts and finishes at Pollok Beach Grass Area, Summerstrand on Saturday 27 September.The 10km starts at 07h00 and the 5km at 07h15.
  2. In the 10km, the race number must be worn on the front and the licence or temporary licence on the back. Race number to be worn on the front in the 5km. Race numbers are to be clearly visible to the camera when coming down the Finish tunnel.
  3. Registered athletes are to wear club colours for 10km.
  4. The temporary licence fee is compulsory for all unlicenced participants in the 10km.
  5. Age category tags must be worn front & back of the vest by athletes competing for age category prizes in the 10km. Runners using a temporary licence shall produce proof of age on race day to qualify for prizes.
  6. The “No Seconding” Rule applies and all participants must obey marshals and traffic officials at all times. Running on / across grass verges / pavements will lead to disqualification in the 10km.
  7. Only Licenced club athletes over the age of 65 years enter for free for the 10km.
  8. The wearing of ear-phones while running is prohibited as this is seen as a safety hazard to runners.
  9. Cut-off time for the 10km is 2 hours and the 5km is 1 hour 30 mins.
  10. Please make use of LITTER BINS provided for water sachet packets. No littering is permitted beyond demarcated drinks areas as per ASA ruling. If you are caught littering on the course this will lead to your disqualification as per EPA/ASA ruling.
  11. Medals will be awarded to the first 5000 finishers in both the 10km and 5km.
  12. Race numbers contain an electronic timing chip. DO NOT FOLD OR CRUMPLE THE RACE NUMBER as this will damage the timing chip. NO CHIP = NO TIME.
Race Number and Goody Bag Collections:

Pick up your race number, t-shirt, and goodie bag during race week – 22 September to Friday 26 September from 09h00 to 18h00 or on the morning of the race from 05h30.
