The whole family is invited to kick off the June holidays at the 2010 Absa Kirkwood Wildsfees on June 4, 5 and 6 as a warm-up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Rated as one of the top festivals in the country, Kirkwood has something for everyone in the family – a special Kidz Zone for the youngsters, live cooking and other demonstrations all day, over 350 specialist stalls selling specialist wildlife-themed art, craft and décor items, as well as scrumptious treats. Included in the line-up are some of the biggest wine, food and car shows in the province. All in the shadow of the Rietberg Mountains, which form part of the Greater Addo Elephant National Park. Taking the field from five on the Friday and Saturday on what is traditionally the biggest sound stage in the Eastern Cape will be many of South Africa’s favourite artists. On Sunday, the entertainment starts mid-morning. Stars in the night teams for the three days of the Absa Kirkwood festival are: Friday – kick off: Juanita du Plessis, Sorina, Saartjie Girls Band, Gerhard Steyn, Emo Adams and Band. Saturday – second half: Kurt Darren, Elizma du Plessis, Ray Dylan, and Prime Circle. Sunday – extra time: The Campbells, Nianell and Dozi, Bobby van Jaarsveld and the Soweto String Quartet.
