JURASSIC WORLD: FACT OR FICTION?

'Nothing in Jurassic World is natural!' proclaims Henry Wu, the chief scientist in Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World. And to complicate matters even further, he explains how even the DNA used to 'create' the animals is not authentic dinosaur DNA; gaps in the ancient genome have been filled with that of different living animals. In a movie such as this the public is often left wondering what is fact and what is fiction, Join us as Prof Anusuya Chinsamy-Turan unravels some of this confusion.

Prof Chinsamy-Turan is an award-winning South African palaeontologist known for her work on the microscopic structure of the bones of dinosaurs and other animals. She is an A rated scientist and has published over 100 articles in scientific literature, in addition to a number of popular articles and books on dinosaurs. She is an erstwhile director of Natural History Collections at Iziko Museums and of the Department of Biological Sciences at UCT. She currently chairs the board of Scifest Africa, the biggest Science Festival in Africa.
