British Tourist Attack Did Not Happen in Addo Elephant National Park
In response to factually incorrect reports published by certain print and broadcast media, South African National Parks (SANParks) has issued a statement clarifying that a robbery affecting two British tourists did not happen in the Addo Elephant National Park.

The incident, which took place on Monday 4 April, in fact took place at a bed and breakfast establishment near the town of Addo. The suspects were later apprehended by police and the stolen goods returned to the owners.

“Although we found this incident disturbing, we would like to clear up the confusion and reassure our visitors that visitor safety and enjoyment is of the utmost importance to us,” said Spokesperson, Megan Taplin.

Taplin added that there are a number of effective security measures in place at Addo Elephant National Park which enhance both the safety of visitors and wildlife in the Park.

Taplin appealed to the media to ensure they had the correct facts before publication since incorrect reports are extremely damaging to SANParks’ reputation.
