Performing Arts Festival NMMU

The NMMU Department of Arts & Culture, in collaboration with the P.E Opera House, the MBDA, the Faculty of Education, and Student Housing, proudly bring you the NMMU Performing Arts Festival 2016. Now in its second year, the project seeks to ‘bring the arts to the university’, specifically in the forms of dance and drama. The festival takes place over a period of a 3 days, namely from the 14th –16th of September 2016,  and includes some really exciting work, including  some shows fresh from the Grahamstown NAF 2016, the PE Opera House, and many more..

The university recognizes the wealth of talent that exists at the institution, and will be staging some student productions, namely by the NMMU Drama Society, Faculty of Education, and also staging professionals from the city. The amazing part of this festival is that all shows will be free of charge, in the real spirit of bringing the arts to the students, as well as by opening its doors to the community to come and enjoy the quality entertainment. We encourage all to attend and join in the rich theatrical experience that the NMMU recognizes as being an important aspect within the holistic environment of their students and communities.

Part of this festival will also include school learners, and rising artists who will attend.  These youth groups will be treated to a mini expo of career paths in the arts as well as others that the university offers. They will also be exposed to workshops and talks by figures such as inspirational speakers, management of the university and professional entertainers in order to expose them to as many options as possible, making it a rich and full experience.

Shows will take place daily with 3 shows per day, at the NMMU North Campus Goldfields Auditorium.
