RIDERS GEAR UP FOR NISSAN WORLD CUP QUALIFIER 2014

PORT ELIZABETH - South Africa's equestrian and show-jumping fraternities are gearing up for the eagerly-anticipated Nissan World Cup Qualifier 2014, which will take place in Port Elizabeth between 13 and 16 November 2014.

Hosted at the Port Elizabeth Riding Club - an exquisite equestrian venue, with superior arenas and facilities - the Nissan World Cup Qualifier has attracted top riders from across the country.

They will be put through their paces on a course which is designed by top South African International Course Designer, Kevin Spratley. The course must be based on International standards.

Mike Whitfield, managing director of Nissan SA, said: “It is with great delight that we bring you the 2014 Nissan World Cup Qualifier. This is the third year that we have partnered with the Port Elizabeth Riding Club and the event has become a highlight on both the Nissan and equestrian calendars.

I believe there are strong synergies between our two organisations, not least delivering innovation and excitement - our Nissan brand philosophy.”

Participants will compete in a number of categories ranging from 1.0m up to the prestigious 1.50m FEI World Cup Qualifier, scheduled for Sunday 16 November. Riders who qualify could be eligible to participate in the FEI World Cup to take place in Europe next year.

Event organiser Tanja Radke said, "The Eastern Cape is very proud to once again host the Nissan World Cup Qualifier 2014, which has become a flagship Port Elizabeth event.

We hope the family-oriented event will encourage the Port Elizabeth public to come along and watch our top equestrian athletes in action as they vie for the prestigious title.  We are the final leg of the series and the finale competition on the Sunday will see the South African World Cup Qualifier 2014 being announced.

Although show jumping and competing will be the main attraction, the Nissan World Cup Qualifier 2014 will also feature a dedicated play area to keep children entertained, while adults will have an opportunity to visit the Nissan display area, which will offer a chance to test drive a variety of Nissan models. There will also be some food stalls and entertainment for the public on the weekend.”
