2019 Boardwalk Pearson Open Chess Open

The Boardwalk proudly plays host to the 2019 Boardwalk Pearson Open Chess Open for the second consecutive year from 25 March to 3 April 2019. Chess grandmasters as well as emerging chess players will be competing in the event which is accredited and recognized by the World Chess Federation (Federation Internationale des Echecs, known as FIDE from its French acronym).
The Grandmasters (GM) Norm field – which is by invitation only – features players from India, France and Belarus who will compete from 25 March to 3 April in a series of competitions. The FIDE Open – open to all players – will take place from 28 to 31 March and the Development section – for primary school learners – will take place on 30 March. The GM Norm Field and FIDE Open will be rated by FIDE, Chess South Africa (CHESSA), and the URS.
