A Night at the Opera

Following a triumphant series that left audiences raving—"fabulous, a delight from beginning to end! Top-class singing, beautiful costumes, and a polished, professional show!"—Impact Community Theatre is thrilled to announce the return of its celebrated concert series, A Night at the Opera, to the Savoy Theatre this month.
First launched in 2015 by G&S, A Night at the Opera quickly became a beloved fixture in the local arts calendar, showcasing the world-class operatic talent flourishing right here in Nelson Mandela Bay. After a three-year hiatus, the production returns with an exciting new ensemble featuring acclaimed local opera stars and beloved Impact performers, including Liske Hemingway, Lindokuhle Gushu, Kelly le Roux and Jabulile Ngowebu, alongside a new generation of rising stars.
This year’s production is under the expert direction of Rose Cowpar and Thuba Myeki, both respected veterans of the Nelson Mandela Bay performing arts scene. Audiences can look forward to a rich and varied program of iconic arias and timeless classics from operas such as La Traviata, Lakmé, Rigoletto, La Bohème and Cosi fan Tutte. Highlights include “The Flower Duet”, “Un de Felice”, “Song to the Moon”, “Brindisi” “Liefling,” and the universally loved “Barcelona”.
The stellar cast also features Impact Award Winners, Khuselo Gqiba and Lethabo Makuruetsa with Elmarie Jonker, Andile Maneli joined by selected emerging NMU artists. With such a powerhouse lineup, this promises to be one of the theatrical highlights of the year.
Whether you're an opera enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, you'll be surprised at how many of these timeless melodies you already know and love. This show offers something for everyone—from sweeping romantic duets to stirring ensemble pieces.
