Annie Get Your Gun!

What’s not to love about Annie Get Your Gun!? Timeless songs like “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and “You Can’t Get a Man With a Gun”, an hilarious script…..the costumes, the scenery, the makeup, the props…and a leading couple set to set the stage alight with their incredible talent and chemistry!

This timeless classic was given a revamp in 1999 and G&S presents the PE premiere of this Tony Award winning version. Annie reunites the award-winning team of Director Rose Cowpar and Musical Director Richard Campbell with Choreographer Bennie Gerber. Rehearsals are going brilliantly and tickets are now on sale.

Many locals will recognise Tara-Jane Stern and Thuba Myeki from their amazing performances with Centrestage and we are incredibly proud to have them lead up our 37 strong cast of some of the best singers, dancers and actors that PE has to offer.

Tara-Jane plays the iconic lead role of Annie Oakley with Thuba as suave ladies’ man Frank Butler. The cast also features Jacques Batista as Charlie Davenport, last seen playing Benedick in the PESF’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing” and powerhouse performer Caitlin Smith as Dolly Tate. The roles of Winnie Tate and Tommy Keeler will be alternated by the Showtime Award winning teams of Kerry-Lee Jeffrey and Phillip Cowie, and Abigail Ranwell and Khuselo Gqiba. Stage veteran Dennis Slattery, affectionately known as Tarz, who was also in the 1995 G&S production will play Chief Sitting Bull, Charl Vollgraaff is Buffalo Bill and Annie’s siblings will be played by Georgia-Jo Palmer, Brooklyn Plaatjies, Tathan Kersten and Joshua Louw.

Annie Get Your Gun tells the story of Annie Oakley, history’s greatest female sharpshooter, who went from backwoods hunter supporting her family with her shooting prowess to the star of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. It only takes one look for Annie to fall head over heels for handsome headliner Frank Butler, although beating him in a shooting contest is great for business but lousy for romance. Fortunately, Frank and Annie married in real life and lived long and happy lives together. Timeless hit songs from the show include "There's No Business Like Show Business", "Doin' What Comes Natur'lly", "You Can't Get a Man with a Gun", "They Say It's Wonderful", and "Anything You Can Do."

Annie runs from the 26th May until the 10th of June at the Savoy Theatre with shows from Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30pm and matinees on the 3rd and 10th of June at 2.00pm. Tickets are R100 for all shows except our family and friends day on the 3/6/17 matinee when all tickets will be R80.
