Art exhibition at home
25 May 2013 - 25 May 2013
After hosting a successful art exhibition in a 150 year old barn on a remote farm at The Crags (near Plettenberg Bay) in December 2012, artist Tertius van Huyssteen is opening his home art studio, at 209 Main Road Walmer, for public viewing. The exhibition will run for one day only, 25 May, from 8am till 6pm.
Joining Tertius van Huyssteen, for his studio exhibition, will be Llise Dodd, who jointly hosted the Fine Art Siganture exhibition at Sweetwaters Barn at the Crags in December 2012.
The studio exhibition will take on the format of an off-beat, pop-up exhibition, a concept van Huyssteen and Dodd have become known for. “The term, pop-up art exhibitions, imply that an exhibition can be set up anywhere at any time for a short period and then moved to a different location” says van Huyssteen. The two artists are already planning and preparing work for their next “pop-up” at Walmer Park Shopping Centre on 28 and 29 June 2013.
“My vision with the studio exhibition at home is to provide an informal platform where artists and art lovers can meet and network and the public is welcome to view and purchase art of a high standard. Hopefully this will grow into something bigger and attract interest of other local artist to join in at a later stage” says van Huyssteen.
The Fine Art Signatures exhibition, hosted by van Huyssteen and Dodd at the Crags (Sweetwaters Barn), saw well-known local Plett artists like Myfanway Bekker, Karina Behr, Guy Thesen, David Thorpe, Jonathan Davies and Terry Zoeller participating in this very successful and memorable event. Hundreds of tourists and locals visited the exhibition and in the three-day period of the event, 30 paintings and a number of crafts were sold. _PE Express
