THE BOB MARLEY PARTY SHOW IS BACK FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY
The feel-good music of reggae legend Bob Marley will be the focus of the first hour of the latest Centrestage instalment of their popular party show, Strictly Partytime, taking place at the Boardwalk Amphitheatre on 30 December.
This show is designed for both watching and reveling and offers a chance to enjoy an hour of interactive Bob Marley classics, then hit the dance floor afterwards for a two hour festive session of the best party hits across the ages.
The sing-and-stomp-along reggae party features dynamic front-man and vocalist extraordinaire, Melvyn Matthews, performing in front of the ‘Supergroup’ 13 piece Centrestage All-Star Band, who are joined by the brass ensemble affectionately known as the The Centrestage Horny Section featuring Shawn Lyon and Graham Beyer.
Matthews, who draws on past experience as the original front man for Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels, oozes charisma as he commands his audience to party like never before to the Kingston rhythms – and party they do!
Matthews turns the well-known reggae anthems, which have spiritual roots in themselves, into a near religious experience, as he infectiously leads the celebrations whilst playing the role of a ‘modern day pied piper of mirth’.
The powerful Matthews vocals paired with one of the biggest lineups of popular Centrestage performers is certain to provide some spectacular fireworks:
Vocalist newcomer Lynn Thomson joins veteran Lelane Fourie in the glamourous Wailers backing vocalist role, while Aston Wylie and guitarists Hugo Kleinhans and Arno Erasmus join keyboard players Deborah Everard and Fenlin Pitie in the star studded lineup.
Kevin Mattheus and Andrew Warneke are as solid as ever in the engine room on drums and bass respectively – and Wayne Kallis joins as a bonus addition for the second party session.
Eternal classics such as No Woman No Cry, Buffalo Soldier, 3 Little Birds, Could You Be Loved, Redemption Song and One Love will have audiences singing, dancing and “feeling the love” like never before.
Current chart-toppers such as Shake It Off, No Place I’d Rather Be, Dance Apocolyptic, All About That Bass, Pompeii, Counting stars and Wake Me Up will share the spotlight with old favourites, such as Another brick in the wall, Brass in pocket, Long train running, Sweet Home Alabama, Oh What A Night, Jump, amongst other favourites.
Tickets are R140 per person or R130 per person when purchasing eight or more. Bookings can be made by calling Wendy on 082 661 6921 or through Computicket.
