Cansa Relay For Life - Nelson Mandela Bay
09 March 2012 - 10 March 2012
Community–based Relay For Life events also raise much-needed funds and awareness to support CANSA’s purpose to lead the fight against cancer in South Africa and save lives by helping people to stay well, get well, finding cures and by fighting back.
Relay For Life is a fun-filled, overnight event where relay teams walk or run for 12 hours around the track.
Colleagues, friends and family gather around the track in tents and sleeping bags throughout the night in aknowledgement that "cancer never sleeps" and to provide much needed support to the teams. Much of the night is spent listening to music, camping out, participating in a variety of family and cancer-awareness activities in the the company of friends, relatives, neighbours and co workers.”
Two highlights of every Relay are the Survivors Lap and the “Luminaria Ceremony” each acknowledging those who have been touched by cancer.
