A treat par excellence is in store for Eastern Cape music lovers as Centrestage in association with Frontier Events presents The Blues Rockers, featuring South African musical legend Robin Auld as special guest artist in front of a new-look Centrestage band lineup.
A festive atmosphere is expected at the specially erected bedouin tent at the New Cash Store where the show has been scheduled for Port Elizabeth on Fri 17 and Sat 18 January. Seating will be in a cabare-chairs-around-tables fashion and the New Cash Store will have a limited menu and a bar available on the evening.
Robin will play an integrated role throughout the show, trading guitar licks, wailing on his harmonica – and adding his distinctive vocals fronting songs as diverse as Dire Straits’s Once Upon a Time in the West and Eric Clapton’s Crossroads. He will also do a Hendrix set in which you will see Robin shredding Johnny Be Good, Red House and All Along the Watchtower, as well as showing off his slide guitar skills re-interpreting Ry Cooder, Ray Charles, Robert Johnson and the Rolling Stones. Robin will be joined onstage by PE’s top musicians, who will also contribute some exciting segments to the review.

Thereafter, the show moves to The Venue at Hemingways in East London for one night only on 28 January.
