Charity Hike for Rhinos

The Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency is hosting a Charity Hike at Island Nature reserve as part of their rhino conservation education campaign. All proceeds from the hike will go to the Wilderness Foundation in support of the work they do in this area.

The Green Flag status Bushbuck hiking trails are easy to do, accommodating all fitness levels, from young to elderly. There are excellent vantage points with coastal views, Yellow Wood and Milkwood trees, and animals such as vervet monkeys, duikers and bushbucks can be seen along the trails, on a lucky day porcupines, bushpigs and caracal can also be seen.

All proceeds will be donated to the Wilderness Foundation Africa to aid rhino protection education. The WFA works to protect and sustain wildlife and wilderness through integrated conservation and education programmes, anti-poaching in the field, large landscape wilderness management, and developing youth from disadvantaged communities for careers in conservation. A light aircraft for the ECPTA’s Rhino Monitoring Programme, which conducts two to three flights per week is made available through the WFA.
