Cultural Explosion at The Boardwalk Amphitheatre
In a bid to showcase Africa’s cultural diversity, Zimbabwean born Rodger Murevanhema and his marimba band Irie Vibes will host a cultural show at the Boardwalk Amphitheatre on Saturday, 29 September. Described as a farewell to the heritage month, the event entitled “Cultural Explosion” will consist of several acts such as jazz, poetry, drumming and traditional dance with each performance carrying over 10 minutes.
Founder of Irie Vibes Murevanhema says he saw an opportunity to use culture as a platform of promoting self-awareness and identity especially to the future generations.
The Irie Vibes band has built a great reputation for themselves with appearances at the 2010 Fifa World Cup, hosting workshops internationally in France and embarking in a community outreach project namely “Give Back” by entertaining and teaching at Cheshire home for the physically challenged.
Murevanhema expressed gratitude to institutions such as the Boardwalk, Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism, and Nelson Mandela Metro University for their generosity in marketing the event despite the bands’ lack of a sponsorship.
This will be a special Saturday evening exploring the quality of local talent. Tickets are available at R30, and the show kicks off at 19h00.
