Leading South African comedian David Kau will be blazing the stage on a one night only performance at The Boardwalk Vodacom Amphitheatre on the 27 November 2010. This Kroonstad-born comedian is synonymous with many firsts. At the tender age of 32, Kau began his career as the first black stand-up comedian in the 1998 Smirnoff Comedy Festival in Cape Town making him the only black person on stage out of 44 comics. He then went on to perform at major company events as well as the country’s top comedy shows like the Heavyweight Comedy Jams, the Kingsize Comedy shows around the country, and has hosted the highly successful Blacks Only comedy shows for three years in a row. No stranger to television, David Kau performed on the popular Phat Joe Show and Pure Monate Show, a comedy sketch on SABC 1 which aired in 2004 and featured famous comedians Kagiso Lediga, Riaad Moosa, David Kibuuka and Loyiso Gola which David wrote and produced. “I’d never had experience in stand-up comedy,” recalls David, “the first comedy show I ever saw was the first one I was in.” And for the next few years David was a headliner in this international comedy festival. Politicians, cabinet members, celebrities and even the common folk and their essential survival items have been prey to the humorous grasp of the highly irreverent Kau. “Am happy to be getting back on stage with my one man show doing new jokes and jokes I forgot to do last time round” says funny man David Kau. Port Elizabeth comedy lovers have a chance to see David Kau on his return to the Boardwalk Vodacom Amphitheatre performing in his one man show titled “I did these jokes first”. Tickets are priced at R100 and available at Computicket. Doors will be open at 19h30 and the show starts at 20h00.
