Eastcape Watercolour Association Annual Exhibition
06 November 2012 - 16 November 2012
Have you ever tried your hand at watercolour painting? It is said to be one of the most difficult, but it is one of the most exciting and unique mediums! It has a living quality that begs for freedom. Watercolour tends to do its own thing. You can splash it on the paper and it mixes pushes, pulls, and swims together and, if handled correctly, creates beautiful, juicy, delicious, gorgeous colours that move and live.
The East Cape Watercolour Association was originally started in 1986 and was called Group 11 with 11 members. In 1992 the name was changed to the East Cape Watercolour Association and today we have about 55 members. Some are experienced and well known artists, and some beginners. Our meetings are inspiring and we are a fun-loving, friendly bunch of artists who love to be creative. We welcome new members, both experienced and complete beginners.
We meet at the ARTEC Gallery in Bird Street every Wednesday morning at 9.30. We hold workshops given by experienced artists, paint and have critique sessions and show art instruction DVDs.
On the fourth Wednesday we paint plein air when, weather permitting, we paint out doors at venues like the yacht club, the beach, the Boardwalk or in the countryside.
The Watercolour Association has an extensive library of art instruction books on painting, sketching and drawing, as well as DVDs and International Artist magazines.
ECWA holds an Annual Exhibition at the ArtEC/ EPSAC Gallery in Bird Street in November every year. The paintings are all for sale at very reasonable prices so make a note of the dates below, come and see some beautiful art and perhaps choose a unique Christmas present or original addition for that blank wall at home.
