Exhibition Bongo Mei

New democratic public image is an exhibition curated by Bongo Mei and is inspired by a research project of the same title. The curatorial approach adopted for this project is that of simulating the social media and exhibiting these opinions in effective ways. The exhibition will comprise posters, fine art, photography and comical sketches.

The intention is to involve both the artist and audience in materializing the concept of creating a new democratic public image. A public forum to discuss the topic will be in an open conversation format.
Two visual essays by the artists Kwanele S. Mboso (Johannesburg) and Bongo Mei (Port Elizabeth) will be featured. These two artists collaborate in the conceptualization of African theoretical aesthetics. The focus is on its heritage aspect with emphasis on traditional and foreign belief systems in South Africa, and rural and urban perceptions.
