Mountain bikers will be able to sleep in comfort and enjoy good food at the annual Fish River Sun MTB Challenge.
The race gives cyclists an opportunity to “enjoy a weekend away with friends and family” in the two day stage race, says Karen Lee of the Fish River Sun.
Situated halfway between Port Elizabeth and East London the annual event will take place over two days on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12 in the Fish River Sun area.
Stage one takes place on the Eastern side of the Fish River. It is a 60km gravel road course with a scenic view jeep track and single track cattle paths and finishing with a loop through the Fish River Sun golf course, crossing the feature bridge over the Old Women’s River and finishing on the lawn in front of the clubhouse.
Stage two takes place on the Western banks of the Fish River in the Kap River Nature Reserve where riders will ride amongst an abundance of wildlife for 50kms.
The event is a collaboration between two of the Eastern Cape’s premier MTB event organisers: Mountain Events, organisers of the Herald VW MTB Cycle Tour and The Great Zuurberg Trek stage race as well as many other events in and around Port Elizabeth and East London-based ECMTB, organisers of the highly acclaimed Lord of the Chainrings MTB stage race.
The Fish River Sun will be providing accommodation for the Full Race entrants at R2 350 per rider which includes individual entry into the race (Both Stages), two nights’ accommodation at the resort including two breakfast, two lunches and two suppers.
The Fish River Sun is also providing accommodation for Budget Race entrants at R1 800 per rider, which includes individual entry into the race (both stages), one night accommodation at their resort including one breakfast, two lunches and one supper.
