From Africa to Asia – NMMU Choir Farewell Concert

Congratulations to our award-winning NMMU Choir who are the only choir in Africa to be invited to the 2017 “The Heart of Chorus” Shanghai International Choral festival (SICF). The festival and China tour will take place from 18 to 30 May.

The NMMU Choir will perform with choirs from Germany, the Philippines, Russia, Thailand and choirs from across China.  This is their 7th invitation to international festivals in the last 10 years and their 4th invitation  to China.

The Chinese government has decided that all Chinese people should sing in choirs and are training thousands of choral conductors. It will be interesting for our Choir to see how the choral art form has made strides in the country.

The Choir will be performing a farewell concert on Tuesday, 16 May at 6pm in the South Auditorium.
