"Happy Feet" Fun Run in Celebration of International Penguins Day

Join in for a 5km FUN RUN within the Cape Recife Nature Reserve at SAMREC on the 20th April 2013!

RACE DAY:

LATE Registration is from 07h00 - 08h30 on Saturday 20 April 2013, at SAMREC.

Tags will be provided to all registered fun-runners, and must be pinned to the front of the runner's shirt. All entrants under 9 years of age or older on race day, must be accompanied by an adult. The fun run starts at 09:30 at the end of the parking area at SAMREC.

The route follows the Cape Recife road to the lighthouse, then onto the beach around the lighthouse, and returns along the beach. The finish is on the beach below the boardwalk to SAMREC (see route map). Prams and wheelchair participants will be able to proceed to the lighthouse, and then return along the same route – this distance is about 4 km. No dogs – or any pets – allowed in the Cape Recife Nature Reserve.

Strict security measures will be in place along the whole Penguin Plod course. There could be sections of soft sea sand on the beach, so appropriate footwear should be worn. Refreshment stations will be provided along the route at 2 km and 3km. The cut-off time for the fun run is 10:50.

On finishing the fun run, the tag must be exchanged for a finishers badge. Gold medals to first 5 men and first 5 women, Silver medals to the next 20 fun-runners and Bronze Finisher Badges to all other finishers. The fun-run committee reserves the right to accept or reject any entry. Entry fees are non-refundable.

There will be lucky draw prizes at 11:00 in front of SAMREC. Attendance prizes only. Fun-runners indemnify the NMBM, Sponsors and Organisers against all or any actions of whatever nature arising out of participation in this event. Marshals must be obeyed at all times.

Food and beverages will be available at the finish. Tours of SAMREC will be available at 12h30 and 13h00 to all finishers, with a maximum of 50 guests per tour on a first-come first-served basis.
