Music legends set to ‘Baroque & Roll at Red Ball 2012 for blood cancers
South African music legends Gloria Bosman, Tim Moloi, Rocco de Villiers and Julie Hartley will be joining the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Graham Scott on stage at the annual Red Ball.
Organised by the Igazi Foundation, the “Baroque ‘n Roll” 2012 Red Ball to be held on September 15 in the Feather Market Centre, will be the second ball in a series that is fast becoming the annual Glamour event of PE.. National and international guests will be attending.
Igazi demands ‘Better Haematological services’ for all people of the Eastern Cape, the Province with the highest incidence of blood cancers in South Africa. Their work has so far successfully seen the creation of the first stem cell unit ever in Port Elizabeth. This years ball will help to make this unit fully operational as this state of the art unit is unopened due to a moratorium of staff.
The ball music director Scott has conducted over 75 seasons over the past 30 years. Favourite arrangements include: Sweeney Todd, Into the Wood, and Big Band Blast.
Gloria Bosman has performed a variety for a wide variety, such as: SA Love, a musical of South African love songs produced by Christo Leach, Jubilation a gospel based musical directed by Ivor Jones, Woman in Spirit, The Lion and the Lamb, the award winning play by actor director John Kani.
Rocco de Villiers has released 10 instrumental CDs, he has written nine instrumental stage productions, his last two albums Beautiful Beautiful Piano and More Beautiful Piano sold more than 50 000 copies.
Tim Moloi has performed for former South African President, Nelson Mandela, Graca Machel, Prince Willem- Alexander and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands.
Moloi released his debut solo album Love That Music, mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London, and Love that Music was nominated for two South African Music Awards and performed at the 2010 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony.
Julie Hartley began her career 25 years ago in the 80’s building up an enviable track record of leading roles on stage in the title roles of Cinderella and GIGI, Sandy in Grease, Guinevere in Camelot, Barbara Winters in Summer HOLIDAY and Marilyn Monroe in Marilyn Live! to name a few.
Baroque and Roll all night long with this amazing line up along with a five course gourmet menu specially created for the event and prepared by our own Jamie Oliver trained chef, Jayne Davies, from the award winning IN Food in Jeffery’s Bay.
