PoeticSoul’s HER WORDS

HER WORDS seeks toamplify the voice of women by firstly showcasing female artists in the EasternCape and possibly the rest of South Africa, who work in any art aform Theartists will be showcased once a month on the last Thursday of every month to aLadies-only performance( it is open to everyone,but the perfomances are only from female artists).

The 45 minute performance driven by aparticular theme will be followed by 20 minutes of the ladies in attendanceengaging in a networking session over light snacks. Thereafter another 20minutes will be dedicated to a ‘talk’ session led by the host where the womenwill bounce off their thoughts on the theme as presented by the performingartist. In this manner, the 90 minutesof activity will have managed to kill 3 birds with one stone by elevating thestatus of art in the community, unifying women, and discussing topics that womenmay find to be difficult to tackle alone in their private spaces.

Joy Mutala is a Zambian born musician and song writer.Joy has been playing piano since grade 3, and guitar since grade 5. Singing from a tender age. Started song writing in 2003. Style of song writing is contemporary gospel/acoustics/pop

and toured with the NMMU choir, to the chorale symposium argentina in 2011! On the 19 July she will be blessing us with her acoustic set and piano as she showcases her vocal abilities through song. a UK contemporary dancer Michaela Gebremedhin Wate will be opening the event
