Ratha Yatra-Chariot Festival
The “Festival of the Chariots,” known throughout India as the “Ratha Yatra” festival, has been performed for thousands of years in Puri, India and today it is celebrated in all major cities through out the world.

On the 21 of October 2012, the ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) Centre in Port Elizabeth will be hosting an interactive parade, in which people will pull a large Chariot by ropes. It will begin at 10 am Sharp in the Kings Beach Parking Lot and will proceed to down Marine Drive towards The Shark Rock Pier. The parade will continue down Marine Drive and end at 1pm in 1st Avenue at the Scouts Hall. The festival of the chariot festivities will include a Free Vegetarian Meal, Live Theatre, Music, Exhibits and more.

We invite everyone to bring their family and friends to experience this extraordinary event, and help pull the large chariots through the streets of Port Elizabeth. This festival is wheel chair accessible and family friendly. No drugs or alcohol will be permitted.
