Come Explore SA's new polar vessel
You are invited to explore the Department of Environmental Affiars' new pride and glory, the SA Agulhas II, which graced our shores for the first time in May 2012. The polar research vessel is built strong enough to carry supplies and personnel to South Africa's research bases in the Southern Ocean and Antarctica for decades to come. She will be embarking on her first expedition to Antarctica in July 2012, and the annual open day offers the public a unique chance to come along and learn more about the Department's work in the oceans and coastal environment, the ship and its operation
