Savoy Theatre Workshops

The Savoy Theatre Workshops have become a highlight during school holidays for anyone who loves performing, getting technical or just enjoying some personal development across a great variety of disciplines!

G&S is excited to announce a range of workshops during these July holidays which will give anyone interested, from 7years to 70plus, the opportunity to learn from some of some of our local experts.

The workshops cover a variety of both performing and technical disciplines and will run from 3 – 15 July 2023.

Each day there will be a range of workshops offered in different time slots where participants can choose between different workshops to attend. We currently have a great range of workshops led by some of GQ’s top people in their field and covering many different styles of singing, acting and dancing as well as make-up, puppetry and technical skills. The 17h30 timeslot is especially for those who work or study during the day!

The presenters are the who’s who of PE’s theatre scene. Bennie Gerber and Rose Cowpar are both award winning actors and directors. Dancers Darren Rockman, choreographer for Matilda, Kyle Adams, Abi Ranwell and Chezzy Meyer will cover all styles from Classical Ballet to Breakdancing. Levern Botha, who will cover Physical Theatre, has worked extensively in professional companies all over South Africa and popular local performer Tarryn Light will share her experience.

Vocal workshops will be covered by Amanda Engelbrecht who has worked with the EC Children’s Choir as well as on many G&S shows. These are just some of the incredible lineup of facilitators in store for participants.

The workshops are open to all interested parties from 7 years and up and no previous experience or training is required for most of the classes. Workshops are just R60 each or 10 for R500 – cheaper than the movies!
