Uitenhage musicians will be part of the One Blood Music Festival to be hosted at the Grand Hotel in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, March 21.

Skank N Roots will be bringing Reggae tunes to the multiculturalism musical festival, according to organiser Nomakhomazi Dyosopu of One Blood Sound.

Formed in the 90’s by a diverse group of individuals who share the same interest and vision in music, Skank N Roots is made up of Eric Skank Mooi (vocalist), Dumile Desmond Dabula (drummer), Marvin Williams (lead guitarist), Deon Manel (piano), Mkhangeli (MK) Matiwane (bass Guitar) and it Peter Franklin Liberty (percussions).

Mkhangeli also known as MK describes the band’s music as having strong rhythm and emotions behind every message and story carried out through every song.

Skank N Roots will be performing songs from their own albums which reflect the daily emotions of love, hate and making peace.

Fans can enjoy the musical day with doors opening at one in the afternoon and closing at eleven in the evening.

Headline acts for this year’s festival will be Johannesburg-based hip hop artist “Reason” together with international Jamaican reggae artist Iqulah.

Local artists also performing for the festival include Lefa Mosea and the double Standard Quintet, Northern Area Hip Hop, Catalyst and Hidden Prospect, Static Flo, and Third Generation.

Tickets can be purchased from Computicket for R80 per person or R100 at the door.
