Nelson Mandela Bay, the home of IRONMAN in Africa, plays host to the latest event in the Standard Bank 5150 African Triathlon Series with the addition of the Standard Bank 5150 Nelson Mandela Bay and Standard Bank FUNTRI set to take place on the 24 November 2019. 

For those looking for something shorter, there will be the option of the Standard Bank FUNTRI. The FUNTRI will feature a 450-metre swim, 20km bike and 5km run and both team and individual entries are available for the FUNTRI. The FUNTRI will take place at the same time, on the same course – covering approximately half the distance – and will finish at the same finish line as the Standard Bank 5150 Nelson Mandela Bay.

Both races will start at King’s Beach with the transition area located in the King’s Beach parking area. Athletes will then start the cycle, exiting the King’s Beach parking area turning left onto Marine Drive to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the coast before heading back to transition.  The run course will showcase the recently renovated King’s Beach precinct and open air amphitheatre as athletes are taken along the coastline past Nelson Mandela Bay’s premier public beaches before returning back towards the finish line at King’s Beach.
