South Africa's spectacular instrumental pop group Sterling Electric Quartet will be returning to The Boardwalk due to popular demand. The instrumentalists performed a sold-out show in December 2009, and will be performing a selection of their hits during their show on Saturday, July 17 at The Boardwalk Vodacom Amphitheatre.
The SAMA-nominated Sterling EQ took the entertainment industry by storm in 2009 with their genre-defying musical style and sensational live performance. The group has shared the stage with musical icons including Boney M, Snow Patrol, Johnny Clegg, Parlotones and Lira, and have entertained local and international celebrities to the likes of Elton John, Annie Lennox, and Lance Armstrong, to name but a few.
Ariella Caira, cello diva of the instrumental supergroup, is particularly excited to return to Port Elizabeth, where she was born. "I think you will always have a special connection with the place where you were born, but PE is especially close to my heart because of the people. It really is the Friendly City! We have loads of fans there so it's always a lovely venue for us".
Flute virtuoso, Carina Bruwer heads up the band, with ace violinists Eriel Huang and Renate Riedemann making up the rest of the quartet.
Sterling EQ's performance on July 17 promises to take audiences on a journey down memory lane with well known hits such as Chic Corea's "Theme from Caravans" and exciting contemporary versions of well-known classics including "Toccata and Storm" (Four Seasons / Carmina Burana medley). Additional South African favourites and original Sterling hits will ensure the audience is highly entertained throughout the show
