Following on from rave reviews for Duck Chowles's stellar sellout performance as Mick Jagger at Old Grey two weeks ago, Centrestage brings the Barnyard Theatre empressario back to PE for another Rolling Stones evening on Saturday 14 March, this time appearing on a special stage in a marquee at Grey High School itself.
A bar will be available and Spur Corporation will have Spur Burgers available for sale at the Rolling Stones show, which will also feature the popular chairs around tables cabaret format.
The Rolling Stones Salute, entitled 'Sticky Fingers', marks the 25th anniversary of the association between Duck Chowles and Centrestage's Gary Hemmings, as well as the first time that the show was staged in the Eastern Cape.
The recent run saw Chowles providing what Hemmings described as 'a master class in rock n roll showmanship, one of the best I have ever seen' and what Chowles himself referred to as 'one of his best performances of his career!'
With added maturity but no less of the Jagger flamboyance, Chowles struts around the stage with the kind of interactive dynamicism and continuous high energy pacing that makes it easy to understand why he is one of the countries foremost entertainers.
He goes out of his way to engage with and showcase his fellow band members, piling heaps of praise on guitarists Alan Kozak and Joe Van Der Linden and original Sticky Fingers drummer Gino Fabbri, and spotlight ace keyboard player Fenlin Pitie and bassist Andrew Warneke continuously.
Chowles, who is founder and 50% partner in the popular Barnyard Theatre chain, spends most of his time producing shows for the Barnyard circuit, which makes these performances very special indeed.
'This is definitely the strongest version of the show to date', said an enthusiastic Chowles, who last performed in PE over a decade ago.
