Summerstrand's Local Christmas Market

Explore a Christmas Market that Cares.
A backyard day of fun in a stunning garden with a few stalls has grown into Summerstrand’s annual creative collection of irresistible Christmas gifts.
This year, over 50 stalls in a new community venue will offer you many options of stand out gifts that are anything but the ‘same old’ options that you can get every year.
From a variety of beautiful homemade jewellery stalls, to interesting gifts like Turkish and salt lamps, scented candles, homemade table linen to leggings and handmade Christmas décor, wreaths, Christmas cards and original art paintings. Clothing, ceramics, beautifully crafted wooden trains and cars, genuine leather goods, plush toys for children looking to be adopted by a loving home, stained glass ornaments and painted signs, fragrances and health products to rusks, biscuits, cakes and caramelised nuts, we have it all! A wide variety of plants, seedlings & hanging baskets will be on sale.
It’s the perfect place for you to do your Christmas shopping and at the same time, support local folk and a very worthy cause this Christmas. This Summerstrand’s local Christmas Market is built around the passionate wish to make a major difference in the lives of our pre-school children. The Isivuna Training Centre in Gqeberha trains ladies who look after pre-school children in our communities and who have very little formal training or means to educate children. Isivuno supplies training, lesson plan books, mentoring, workshops and valuable support to give the children in their little schools a better educational foundation when they start Grade 1. One teacher wrote to Isivuno and said, “The training helped me a lot because I didn’t know about obstacles to learning that children face. I loved learning about the calming corner and tippy tap in the letter H.” Help us in creating future smiles and achievements for children in our city. All stall holders will contribute 10% of their sales and these proceeds will go to Isivuno. In the case of the plants sales, all proceeds will go to Isivuno.
How about joining us for lunch? Artisanal Pizza, delicious burgers, Just Thai (we’re told they make the most delicious spring rolls), Chip & Dip, Boerie Rolls and a sit-down coffee shop with a number of options to cure your sweet tooth cravings, including ice cream, will be on offer. Meet up with friends and neighbours and we will be sure to take the edge off your frenetic December.
Father Christmas will be at the event from 10h00 to 12h00 He has asked us to trial something new this year. It’s called ‘It’s Christmas and you bring the presents.’ He has requested that children attending the market bring items of stationery, new or used crayons, books and other learning aids for the new school year. New or second hand toys would also be appreciated. These will be handed over to Isivuno for distribution. Father Christmas is also more than happy to have a photograph taken with him at the market.
So, join us for some new ideas in Christmas gifts, a relaxed time with friends and being the smile ambassadors for future achievers in our city.
The Christmas market will be hosted at the Summerstrand Community Church at 48 Erasmus Drive and will be open from 9am to 3pm on Saturday 2nd December this year.
