THE ALTERNATIVE

The Alternative, a multi-disciplinary theatrical and creative event, is Starstruck Productions’ first big venture. It will showcase over 30 local creatives including vocalists, dancers, speciality performers, visual artists and poets.

In addition, established and emerging fashion designers Braemore Lundall-Sauls, Annabelle Hift, Visisa Jaftha and Zikhona Mkiva will present their ranges with accessories from Qe2 Designs and Gqiyazana kreations.

“Forget the usual runway show and imagine four segments of 30 minutes each where fashion is brought to life by singers, dancers and models in a themed mini theatrical production,” Cowpar said.

“In one evening, audiences will enjoy a pop concert, a music festival, a jazz evening and a touch of classical with some surprise speciality acts.”

For example, dance fans can enjoy moves from hiphop and breakdance artist Cheslyn Meyer and regional Red Bull “Dance Your Style” champion Kyle Adams.

“Add to that talented visual artists creating a piece of art live inspired by the performances. All artworks will be sold on behalf of the artists in a silent auction each evening.”

Off-stage, The Alternative will provide artists and sponsors with expo-style space where they can connect with clientele, sell their products and promote their work.

Cowpar is The Alternative creative director with Litha Hewitt-Coleman as Musical Director and performer. The powerhouse Choreography Team is led by Abigail Ranwell with Nicky-Ann Rayepen and Cheslyn Meyer. Dan Abrahams, Tiffany East, Sibabalwe Ngewu, Darné Daniels, Litha and Duwayne Witbooi are featured artists.

The Starstruck Team includes audience favourites Kasvia von Memerty, Alieshea Vanderryken, Phil Cowie, Cailan van Heerden, Daniel Hamilton and Khuselo Gqiba with exciting new talent such as Aiden Syce, Caeleigh Heradien and Duane Kriel plus a surprise return by Caitlin Smith. Featured dancers Gia Smith, Larisha Chetty, Seraya Mentor and Brooklyn Plaatjies round out the Starstruck Talent.
