The Rainbow Run - Brightening up the Bay for the Blind

Come and join us for a rainbow of fun and be a part of Brightening up the Bay for the Blind in aid of Nkosinathi Foundation of and for Blind and Partially Sighted People.

The Rainbow Run is the exciting next step for the originally named White Cane Charity Run founded in 2012.

Our aim is to create an event which will generate awareness and integration of our blind and partially sighted community by placing an emphasis on ‘Be a buddy for the blind. The event also raises much needed funding for Nkosinathi Foundation for and for Blind and Partially Sighted.
This unique and memorable charity run consists of an official 10km league race , a 5km Fun Run/ Walk and a 2km Rainbow Challenge.

5km Fun Run
Top Runners, strollers, first time runners, tiny tots, teenagers, walkers or even spectators enjoy the themed 5km course dressed in your brightest brights or most colourful outfit.
Entries available on Quicket or at any of the following sports shops: Brian Bands, Footballer Cape Road, Action Sports 6th Avenue Walmer Shopping Centre and Summerstrand and UD Sports Graaff Reinet Road, Uitenhage

2km Rainbow Challenge
We challenge you to “Be a Buddy for the Blind” by putting yourself in the shoes of a blind/ partially sighted person to show your support. This fun team event is for families, groups, clubs and/or corporates.

Team entries can consist of up to 6 people. During the 2km route at least half of the team members must participate under blindfold or be blind/partially sighted. The aim is for half of the team to use a white cane to walk independently (whilst blindfolded) and for the sighted team members (other half) to coach them by giving only verbal support and instructions.

White canes and simulators/blindfolds will be provided on the day of the race at the Nkosinathi Foundation gazebo in the registration venue. A blind or partially sighted person may be invited to join your team on request. For more information contact Cashelle at Nkosinathi Foundation on 041 487 1150
