The Wine Road Show

Organisers of The Wine Show Jo’burg today announced that they will duplicate their highly successful show concept during a road show in Port Elizabeth at the end of the year.  The Wine Show Road Show Nelson Mandela Bay will follow the same fun, yet educational format from 3 – 5 December 2010 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium for a fabulous three-day wine extravaganza.

According to show director John Woodward, the decision to stage the event in the Eastern Cape is a direct response to market requirements.  “According to official statistics, the Nelson Mandela Bay region is currently the fourth largest metropolis in the country based on population figures and economic turn-over.  Yet, this area is largely ignored by national wine shows leaving the affluent, young Eastern Cape market thirsty for wine, in terms of accessibility, education and availability.  By bringing wine alive in Port Elizabeth, we are confident that we can attract this lucrative market and create a unique platform for our exhibitors.  The initial response from venue management has been incredibly enthusiastic and they predicted that we might even replicate the footfall we had in Johannesburg earlier this year,” states Woodward.

The number of exhibitors will be limited to fifty award-winning estates, which will showcase their latest vintages at the World of Windows of the stadium.   A dedicated outdoor eating and seating section will be available with food services being provided by top local catering specialists.  Winemakers will offer free tutored wine tastings as well as food and wine pairing sessions in The Wine Theatre.

Venue managers Access Management has jumped at the opportunity to host the event.  “Having experienced the show in Johannesburg, I am thrilled that the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium will be a venue sponsor of The Wine Show Road Show and that we’ll be bringing this exceptional show to my hometown.  This promises to be a not-to-missed event in the most talked about place in town – and we’re definitely it,” says marketing and communications manager Buli Ngomane.
