If you’re keen for a chilled out evening of original entertainment by two of PE’s top original bands, get down to Warmer Gardens on Friday, October 29 for the “Two’s Company” show.
First up is 2Ché, who have just finished recording their first album, ‘Play it like it is.’ The duo is one of the most unique combinations of musicians in South Africa, with their main focus on bass and voice mixed with rhythm guitar. This is something that has to be seen to be believed, as one of the Eastern Cape’s top bassists, Andrew Warneke, changes musical focus from the traditional bass line to a complex melody. Warneke is complemented by the soulful, multilayered vocals of singer and songwriter, Claire Harmse. The duo describe their sound as “organic pop/folk with jazz and blues influences.”
2Ché is joined by another duo, Meg ‘n Rob, who have featured on the folk club stage a number of times. Meg’s jazzy voice and dreamy lyrics are reminiscent of the 50’s and 60’s with a hint of Norah Jones and fit in perfectly with Rob, a maestro on the guitar. The group describes their sound as “a mellow fusion of folk, jazz and contemporary sounds.”
Both 2Ché and Meg ‘n Rob will perform a number of items together.
The newly opened Warmer Gardens venue is ideal for ‘chillaxation’ and although an outdoor venue, it is completely sheltered from the PE wind. Situated at 181 Main Road Walmer (just be hind the Total garage), it boasts a bar and basic dinner menu for guests.
