Vernon Castle Live in Concert

Vernon Castle, a South African artist with music performance experience in both National and International music arenas. His 30 years of experience was started on the cabaret scene of the City of Cape Town, A region of South Africa that is steeped in the Genre of Jazz, Soul and R&B Music. In 1978 Vernon recorded his first single with EMI, which single enjoys, to this day, considerable airtime of all the local radio stations in the Western Cape. Vernon is presently recording his first album, “The other side of me” which is due for release in September 2009.

In international performances he has shared billing with artists such as Jill Hayward, of Shakatak, Ronnie Jordan, The Jazz Crusaders and the Backing band to the Manhattan Transfer. In South Africa Vernon has shared the stage with musicians such as Winston Mankunku, Sammy Hartman, Robbie Jansen, The legendary Pacific Express and various others. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Al Jarreau and George Benson, Vernon has become known as “The Al Jarreau of South Africa”.

This is largely due to his inept ability to interact with fellow musicians, but mainly due to his unique scatting ability. Contract work has included a Sun International Hotels stint doing one man band cabaret and a 7 month stint at the Hilton Hotel in Abu Dhabi as leader of a jazz ensemble. Vernon currently performs with his backing band “After Sunset”.
