Feeling bored and have no idea what to do in the last week of the school holidays? Children from 8 to 12 years old are invited to the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum, to create their own sculptural animal using salt dough. The workshop will start with a tour of “Weird and Wonderful”, an art exhibition where the treasures on display will delight the senses and ignite children’s imaginations. They will then proceed onto making attractive, self-hardening, salt dough sculptures which do not require any special skills or ability, just an eye for detail and an active imagination. Best of all, this salt dough craft is a fun activity that is not only great for making decorative sculptures, but can keep the children’s creative minds flowing right until the end of the holidays, just in time for school! The workshop will take place on Monday 11 July and again on Wednesday 13 July from 09:00 to 12:00. The cost is R15 and all materials will be provided including light refreshment. Ten children can be accommodated per workshop so telephone the Art Museum on 041 506 2000 to make a booking for a morning of fun! Bursaries are available, on request, for suitable applicants.
