ZX10R Festival of Speed

Brainchild of well-known racer Louis van Bergen, 2007 saw the birth of the Kawasaki ZX10 Masters Cup, aimed at encouraging close racing with the emphasis on rider talent, and making the series accessible to persons who have never raced before, as well as ex-national champions. Famous racers, the likes of Graham van Breda, Gavin Wagenaar, Tony Klem, Ian Harwood, Chris Marais, Raumono Keen, Rodney McLachlan, Jaco Gous, Johan le Roux, Start Mac Leod, Andre van Vollenstee, Stuart Russel, Pieter de Vos and JB Schoeman will all be on track at the Aldo Scribante Circuit on 11 October 2014 for some paint scraping, breath taking racing.
The Kawasaki ZX10 Masters Cup is currently in its eighth year of running and remains one of the largest and most successful motorcycle racing categories in South Africa today, forming part of the Extreme Festival which is classed as a National Challenge with riders from provinces throughout South Africa. Divided into two classes, Masters, 35 years of age before 1st January (Black numbers) and Veterans, 45 years of age before 1st of January (Red Numbers).
The Cup is a one make series, so all motorcycles are Kawasaki ZX10R’s and everyone is required to use the Bridgestone R10 racing tyres, only one set of tyres are allowed for qualifying, race one and race two, so as to keep costs down. Minor modifications to suspension (oil, Shims and Spring) and upgrades that may include rear sets, end cans (Silencer) and levers are allowed. Other than that, the engines are standard and are required to be sealed before the motorcycle may be raced in the series.
We are hosting a braai for the ZX10 guys after the practice on Friday, so come along and meet the legends. Spend some quality bike time and show them some good old PE Hospitality!
