ABOUT US
It all started in 2004 after Michele began playing around with various types of mosaic applications using a variety of materials. One of her primary materials was ostrich eggshell, widely available in the Little Karoo. Lately Michele has bought a Kiln and started combining ceramics and mosaic’s very successfully.
The combination of ceramics and eggshell has a unique earthy natural look. the use of warm colours is a key feature of her pieces although if a piece is commissioned, the client is able to choose their colour scheme.
Michele’s Dad was a well-known photographer in Cape Town during the 80’s. as a student she worked for him and always wanted to further her love for the arts, but it stayed a dream for years. After several years working in the UK, michele moved back to South Africa and found herself in Oudtshoorn where she lived for 14 years.
In 2010 she moved to Port Elizabeth and has subsequently opened her colourful and electic, mixed medium studio to the public at 142 Villiers Rd, Walmer. Michele’s Pottery and Mosaic’s is a fun paint-your-own pottery and mosaic studio where you can create fully functional, fabalous, personalized pottery and mosaic’s as gifts. She enjoys this medium because it is ever-changing and evolving. She is able to make up anything, from kitchenware to coffee tables. her works are mostly functional goods and represent fantastic value for money.
Michele is always open for ideas, but she is always ready to help people making special and unique gifts for all occasions.
PERSONAL CREATIVE WORKSHOPS
We offer Workshops for Adults and Children in the fields of Mosaic, Pottery & Clay Work. Those who attend enjoys it so much, they’ve made themselves at home here. Want to learn something new and make new friends, then Miclay is the place to be.
Children’s Creative Parties
Everything is taken care of from set up to cleaning up afterwards. Your guests will have such a great time getting in touch with their creative side. So invite your friends for birthday parties throughout the year.
