92nd SPAR RIVER MILE - LAST CHANCE FOR EARLY BIRD ENTRIES

Thousands of entrants are expected for the 92nd SPAR River Mile in February next year.

Early bird incentives for the upcoming SPAR River Mile will be closing at the end of this month ahead of Africa's oldest open water swimming spectacle taking place at Sundays River over the weekend 20th & 21st February 2016. This local must do event has become an iconic festival of sporting fun for the whole family and 2016 offers families even more of an opportunity to come and take part.

The traditional SPAR Men's and Ladies Mile, with R24,500 in prize money up for grabs, attracts hundreds of social and competitive swimmers from around the country and in 2016 an, as yet unannounced, current Olympic swimming sensation will be in attendance. For the budding future swimming stars who are 12 years and under and not taking part in the River Mile, the popular Wakaberry Kids across the river races offer a fantastic platform to get involved and have fun on the day.

The sporting weekend of activities kick off with 'Off-Road Saturday' on the 20th February and includes the popular Wimpy 5km family fun run, the Oracle Media/Black Sheep Mountain Bike races, The HYDRAssist® Wetsuit Double Mile, News Café P.E. Disabled Mile and the First Choice® Family ½ Mile.  An exciting return to the weekend is the Nutritech Maxi and Mini Tri competition which is determined by the combined times for the participants 5km Fun Run, 10km (or 30km in the case of the Maxi Tri) MTB races and the family ½ Mile. Awesome hamper prizes are up for grabs across all events.

Online entries are discounted and an Early bird special during December not only sees a discounted entry fee across all events but offers all Mile and Double Mile entrants a complimentary 2016 River Mile t-shirt. See www.rivermile.co.za to secure your entry soonest. The 2016 festival will include an exciting array of vendors and crafters together with the Wimpy Rotary Kids Zone and the Castle Lite Beer Garden to ensure something for the whole family and an awesome day out. Festival entry fee will be just R20 with kids under the age of 10 years free. Regrettably no pets are permitted into the festival area.
