AQUELLE OCEAN RACING SERIES KICKS OFF THIS SUNDAY - 7th October

Fun for the whole family comes to Nelson Mandela bay again this summer in the form of the fortnightly aQuellé Ocean Racing Series starting this Sunday at Hobie Beach

Africa’s largest family beach event, the aQuellé Ocean Racing Series, returns to Hobie Beach this Sunday for the start of Season 14 with no fewer than 7 events for families to choose from each race day. The Series, which is unique to Nelson Mandela Bay, offers family members the ideal way to get fit whilst making the most of the world class beaches which our City has to offer with something for everyone.

The Series takes place on mostly alternate Sunday morning’s at 9am and includes a 5km Beach Run, 5km Beach Walk, a kids 12 years and under 1km beach run and no fewer than 4 separate swim distances for the open water swimmers including a 400m, 1km, 2km and 3km ocean swim. All races run simultaneously with all finishers receiving a chilled aQuellé flavoured water and entry into the lucky draw prize giving which follows immediately after the last participant. The Kids aged from 1 year to 12 years have a separate age appropriate prize giving on the beach from 10am with age group medals for the top 3 in age groups 6 years and under (6u), 8u, 10u and 12u. With a dozen or more lucky draws up for grabs each race day including the sought after R500 Greenacres Shopping Voucher, the kids prize giving is a very festive inclusion in the program.

Overall top 3 medals are up for grabs in the other 6 events with prize giving taking place on the beach from around 10:15 with another dozen or more lucky draws from supporting local businesses including the feature prize of a R1,500 Greenacres Shopping Centre voucher. After each race day the Series social media partner, Oracle Media, uploads over 400 pictures of the morning’s activities onto the Series Facebook page for sharing.
