Bayworld opens its doors to the public

Bayworld are pleased to announce that as of the 5th of October 2020 they have opened their doors to the public. "It has indeed been a long and testing journey as we had to put the health and safety of our clients, our employees and stakeholders first. We have taken this time to make sure that Bayworld is able to operate in compliance with Covid- 19 regulations as promulgated by Government."
Bayworld Director, Luvuyo Mini says “Bayworld offers stakeholders, locals and visitors an amazing and unique tourism and education experience with over 100 000 scholars coming through the doors annually. The move to level one means that we can welcome guests safely”.
We are proud to publicize our safety Covid-19 mitigation measures such as screening, temperature checks and placement of numerous sanitizer stations throughout the facility.
Mini added” Given our capacity and space configuration and in-line with the 50% safety rule, only visitors inside the Oceanarium during animal feeds will be permitted within the parameters of clearly marked social distancing guidelines”.
“We also wish to take this moment to pass our sincerest condolences to all who have lost loved ones during this pandemic, may their souls rest in peace” concluded Mini.
Bayworld is open from 09:00-16:30 and our ticket office closes at 15:45. Our discounted entrance fees are as follows:
Adults- R40.00
Pensioners and Students-R35.00
Children under the age of 3 years- R30.00
What to expect
Visitors can expect to experience the Seal and Penguin presentations are at 11:00, followed by the Snake Park presentation at 12:00. The Seal & Penguin Feed is at 15:00.

Special announcement – Digitization of Bayworld
In line with Bayworld 2020 redevelopment program, the MBDA will in the coming weeks embark on the digitization program of the Bayworld School program. Dorelle Sapere, Senior Project Manager at the MBDA says “the digitization process is to propel Bayworld into the future, offering world class, interactive digital experiences for visitors. The aim is to elevate the visitor experience through alternative engagement platforms whether onsite or offsite”.
